The case began when a 27-year-old Stamford man, who was apparently drunk, walked in and sat down at a table in Curley's Diner at 62 W. Park Place shortly after 1 a.m., police said. He proceeded to get into an argument with three men and a woman at a nearby table, Sgt. Chris Broems said. As the altercation escalated, he motioned as though he had a gun in his pocket, Broems said.
A fight ensued and the 27-year-old Stamford man ended up getting stabbed in the upper chest area next to his heart, Broems said.
A 28-year-old Stamford man - who was sitting at the counter - tried to break up the melee and ended up with stab wounds in his left abdomen and left flank, Broems said.
Officers arrived as patrons were fleeing out of the diner, he said.
“It was a melee to say the least,” said Broems who added there was blood “strewn” all over the diner.
No arrests have been made, Broems said as police are continuing to interview witnesses.
Both men are expected to make a full recovery, he said.
