Tires And Rims Taken From Stamford Parking Garage

STAMFORD, Conn. — Tires and rims from cars owned by Greenwich Honda were taken from a parking garage in downtown Stamford on Sunday, Sgt. Paul Vaccaro said.

A security guard saw a man loading tires and rims into a minivan, and when he tried to stop him, the suspect fled, Vaccaro said. The suspect smashed through a security vehicle and the security gate when he drove out of the garage at 300 Atlantic St., the sergeant said.

Tires and/or rims were missing from about six or seven vehicles, he said. He was unable to give a value for the items stolen or say how much was taken.

The guard was only able to describe the suspect as a male, Vaccaro said.

Another vehicle also sped through the garage after the minivan, but police were not sure whether it was involved in the theft, Vaccaro said. He also said the guard was unable to see whether there were any passengers in the minivan.

Greenwich Honda keeps vehicles in storage at the parking garage, he said.
