Tommy Miller, 44, and his wife, Bobbie White, 44, of 120 Elizabeth Ave., East Haven, were each charged with two counts of second-degree larceny, second-degree conspiracy at larceny and impersonating a licensed home improvement contractor.

The suspects befriended an 80-year-old Ogden Road woman and an 86-year-old Vine Road woman whom they had met at the Newfield Shopping Center last June, police said.

The suspects convinced the two victims that they could perform general home and car repairs, police said.

After completing these repairs, it was found the work was less than adequate and posed a danger to the homeowner due to its substandard quality, police said.  One victim experienced a loss of $38,000 and the other $2,200.

Each suspect was arraigned Thursday and held on a $43,100 bond.
