The cab driver told police that he picked up a man at the Stamford train station and took him to Southwood Square at around 3:40 a.m. on Sunday morning, the Stamford Advocate reported. The passenger then pulled a gun out and robbed the driver, walking off with about $80 in cash, police told the Stamford Advocate.
However, the robber let his ID behind in the cab, and police used it to track down 46-year-old Shawn King of Stamford, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Police located King in Bridgeport, where he admitted to stealing the money to buy drugs, according to the Stamford Advocate. He said he only cocked his finger to look like a gun, the Stamford Advocate reported. He was charged with armed robbery and held on a $25,000 bond, according to the Stamford Advocate.
