Dayron Wills, 25, said opened fire outside Tino's Nightclub near Columbus Park because he was afraid for his life, according to the Advocate.
Wills had faced 20 years in prison if convicted but pleaded guilty last year to four counts of first-degree assault, the Stamford Advocate said.
The victims were four men and a woman between the ages of 19 and 28.
Wills, who worked as a security guard, had a valid permit for the weapon.
West Park Place was filled with crowds of people when the shooting occurred after midnight. There was a fight in the crowd that night down the street, which Wills said made him fear for his life as it moved toward him, the Advocate said.
Tino’s Nightclub, which was located at at 84 West Park Place, surrendered its liquor permit and closed its doors after the incident.
