STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man faces up to 40 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to distributing cocaine on Tuesday.
Richard Rotante, 57, pleaded guilty in court in New Haven on Tuesday to one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, according to John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
According to court documents, Stamford Police arrested Rotante in August after he made three cocaine sales to an individual working with law enforcement. Police search Rotante, as well as his home and two of his cars, and found approximately 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, items used to process and package narcotics, and $68,923 in cash, according to Durham.
Rotante is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 28, at which time he faces a maximum term of 40 years in prison. He is currently released on a $150,000 bond pending sentencing.
Durham said that Rotante has a previous conviction for distributing cocaine, In April 2007, he was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison, followed by eight months of home confinement and a fine of $3,500.
