STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Stamford police bomb squad were called to an Armed Forces recruitment center Tuesday after receiving a report of a “suspicious” package at a High Ridge Road shopping center, according to the Connecticut Post.
Stamford Police Capt. Sue Bretthauer told the Connecticut Post that the package held only candy, letters and cards that had been dropped off by students from Stillmeadow Elementary School to thank servicemen.
The package, caused nearby businesses to be evacuated, and a canine unit searched the area, police said.
By about 10:30.a.m. the scene had been cleared and all personnel were back inside the recruiting office, added the Connecticut Post.
