Police: Norwalk Shooting Related To Stamford Death

STAMFORD, Conn. — Police are investigating the connection between Sunday morning’s shooting, which resulted in the death of one Stamford man and injuries to three others, and the dead body found at Norwak Hospital early Wednesday morning, Stamford Police Department Capt. Richard Conklin said.

The victim found near Norwalk Hospital, a 21-year-old Stamford resident, was a friend of Darious Jones, 21, who was killed Sunday on Custer Street, Conklin said. He also suspects the victim, Wyclif Bel-Jean of Custer Street, was at the same party where Jones was killed.

Police also believe the victim was shot and then dropped off near the hospital because there were no reported gun shots in the area Tuesday night, Conklin said. There were two reported incidents of shots being fired on Stamford’s West Side, one on Connecticut Avenue, one on Spruce Street, he said. Shell casings were found on Spruce Street, he said.

At this point Conklin is unsure of whether or not the shootings are gang, drug, or neighborhood related, but said he is looking into all options.

“We’re hoping to have some answers real soon,” he said.
