The three-story semi-detached home at 46 Leeds St. sustained damage in the fire, which was reported at at 6:24, said Stamford Fire Department safety officer Dep. Chief Tim Conroy.
Flames were coming out of the south gable of the home he said, but firefighters brought the fire under control by 6:50 a.m.
Conroy said five adults and three children were in the residence. A Red Cross representative was on scene to help the displaced people from the residence that also sustained significant smoke and water damage in addition to the fire damage, Conroy said.
Stamford firefighters cleared the scene at about 8:40 a.m. Tuesday. The fire, which was mostly in the attic of the home, is under investigation, Conroy said.
An Audi A4 2.0 Turbo car in the driveway was damaged by falling debris from the attic fire. The resident and a Stamford city official cleared away debris from the car after the firefighters left.
