Man Charged With Firing Shot Into Debris Pile In Argument With Girlfriend

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Angry after an argument with his girlfriend, a Stamford man turned his rage on to a pile of debris by pulling out his 9mm Glock and firing into it late Wednesday, Stamford Police said.

Ralph Battinelli, 26, of Amherst Place, was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment and speeding.

Police responded to a report of a single shot fired in the area of 1545 Washington Blvd. just before 11 p.m. Officer Heather Frank who was in the area spotted a truck pull out of Court Street and race on Washington Boulevard.

Frank pulled the truck over and discovered Battinelli had a handgun in his possession, police said.

He initially denied knowing anything about the shooting but eventually told officers he had an argument with his girlfriend and shot into the pile of debris, police said. 

Bond was set at $5,000, police said.
