Man Arrested After Scuffle With Stamford Officer

STAMFORD, Conn. — A man pushed down a police officer while turning himself in at Stamford Superior Court on Monday, Lt. Diedrich Hohn said.

Daniel Alberto Barragan, 30, began walking away from marshals and when Court Liaison Officer Theresa Lauf tried to stop him he pushed her, Hohn said. Sgt. Andrew Gallagher then tackled Barragan and he was arrested, the lieutenant said.

The suspect was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol when he was turning himself in for violating a protective order, a woman had against him, Hohn said.

Lauf suffered an injured shoulder during the incident, Hohn said. Barragan did not report any injuries.

Barragan was charged with second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer, and violation of protective order, and he was held on a $25,000 bond, police said.
