Officers were called to the residence by the daughter of the woman who lives there, police said. The daughter lives in Boston and occasionally stays with her mother. On her latest trip to visit, the daughter noticed her mother's jewelry box on the floor of her bedroom, police said. She discovered that four pieces of jewelry worth $9,000 was missing, police said.
She told police the last time she had seen the jewelry was at the end of January. There were no signs of forced entry to the residence or the room, police said.
The woman said the neighbors who live next door have a key to the house but when asked for the key, they said they had lost it.
The victim intends to have the locks changed, said Sgt. Kelly Connelly.
