Sister Vernice Molinari, 83, Former Stamford School Teacher

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Sister Vernice Molinari (Sister Mary Angelus), a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, West Hartford, died March 26. She was 83.

Sister Vernice was born in Greenwich on May 24, 1929, to Angelo Mario Molinari and Angeline Mary (Judice) Molinari. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1948 and celebrated her perpetual Profession of Vows on Aug. 24, 1954.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in education from Diocesan Teachers College in West Hartford, and a Masters of Education Degree as a reading consultant from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.

Sister Vernice taught in the Archdiocese of Hartford and Bridgeport Diocese elementary schools for a number of years, followed by four years as a teacher in the Reading Lab at Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford.

In 1977, Sister Vernice founded The Cedar Court School at the Sisters of St. Joseph Provincial House, West Hartford, where she remained as principal until 1998.

Sister Vernice is survived by her sisters, Marguerite Roberts; Patricia (John) Fomenko; sister-in-law, Sylvia Molinari; aunts, Fran Judice and Lorraine Judice; friend, Sister Jean Sauntry, and Sisters in the Community; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Theodore and Lou F. Molinari; sister, Dominica (Donnie) Molinari; brother-in-law, Thomas Roberts.

Calling hours are Wednesday, April 3, from 3 to 6:45 p.m. at the Convent of Mary Immaculate in West Hartford. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 7 p.m. in St. Joseph Chapel. Burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 27 Park Road, West Hartford, CT 06119. Fisette-Batzner Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington has care of the arrangements.
