Joseph F. Hlavaty, 96, Of Stamford, Worked For Yale & Towne

STAMFORD, Conn. - Joseph F. Hlavaty of Stamford died Monday, Nov. 10. He was 96.

Hlavaty was born Sept. 5, 1918, in Stamford, to Joseph and Anna (Masek) Hlavaty. He worked at the former Yale & Towne as a machine shop supervisor for many years.

Hlavaty is survived by his granddaughters, Jamie Hlavaty (Francis) Scarfi, Jodi Hlavaty Savarese (Joseph), brother, Godfrey Hlavaty (Blanche); sister, Emma Soff; and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Jane C. (Pace) Hlavaty; son, Joseph D. Hlavaty; brothers, Charles and Edward Hlavaty; and sisters, Helen Coppola and Mary Masso.

Calling hours are Monday, Nov. 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.  Tuesday, Nov. 18 at The Basilica of Saint John the Evangelist, 279 Atlantic St., Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Darien.
