James Scarano Sr., 74, Lifelong Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. – James J. Scarano Sr., a lifelong Stamford resident, died Jan. 2. He was 74.

Born Aug. 27, 1938, he was the son of George L. Scarano Sr. and Margaret Candelmo Scarano. He worked at Pitney Bowes for 44 years, eventually becoming a supervisor. Scarano was an avid New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan.

He is survived by two children, James Scarano Jr. and Kimberly S. (Steven) Tobey; a sister, Dolores M. Binder; two brothers, George L. Scarano Jr. and Louis R. (Marjorie) Scarano; a grandson; two aunts; two nieces and a nephew.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Church in Stamford. Lacerenza Funeral Home and Cremation Services handled arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
