Gerald J. Petrizzi, Jr., 86, Of Stamford, Owned Elmrite Fuel & Cove Awning

STAMFORD, Conn. - Gerald J. Petrizzi, Jr., of Stamford died Monday, May 13. He was  86.

Petrizzi was born on July 27, 1926, in Stamford to Gerald J. and Clara Adaletta Petrizzi, Sr. He was a WWII veteran in the US Army. He received a Bronze Star and was one of the liberators at the Kaufering Concentration Camp in Lamsburg, Germany. He was the former owner of Elmrite Fuel and Cove Awning before his retirement.

Petrizzi is survived by his daughter, Geraldine P. Dillon (James) of Fairfield; sons, William L. Petrizzi of Trumbull, Gerald M. Petrizzi (Oongh) of Stamford; brother, Donald Petrizzi of Stamford; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Marie Francis Gianfrancisco Petrizzi; brother, Michael Petrizzi; and sister, Dolores Petrizzi.

Calling hours are Thursday, May 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT 06902.  A prayer service will be held Thursday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Petrizzi’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Building, Memphis, TN 38105.
