Ethel Marta, 83, Stamford High School Graduate

STAMFORD, Conn. — Ethel Marta of Stamford died Monday at Regency Heights after a long illness at age 83.

Marta graduated from Stamford High School in 1947 and was active in its reunion committee. She worked for Pitney Bowes for 10 years before moving to San Francisco in 1957 when she took a position with Pacific Gas & Electric as an executive secretary for 30 years. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Marta and many cousins.

Calling hours will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., with a service to follow. Burial will be at Fairfield Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Bennett Cancer Center, 30 Shelburne Road, or to First Presbyterian Church, 1101 Bedford St., both are in Stamford. Condolences can be left on Gallagher’s website.
