"As we make smart investments today for a brighter Connecticut tomorrow, affordable housing is an integral part,” Malloy said.

Through these housing projects, 851 affordable apartments and 246 market-rate units will be built and rehabilitated.

“These units will help hundreds of families, support municipalities, attract talented workers, contribute to our economic growth and create the communities that will be more competitive in today’s business climate," said Malloy.

The projects successfully competed in either the sixth round of the state’s Competitive Housing Assistance for Multifamily Properties initiative or the federal 9 percent Low-Income Housing Tax Credit round.

CHAMP recipients include the Metro Green III project in downtown Stamford's South End. A loan of up to $5 million will be provided for the construction of two buildings with a mix of studios and one and two bedroom units in the transit-oriented, mixed-income community.
