Stamford Won't Shoot Off Fireworks ... Again

STAMFORD, Conn. — For the second year in a row, the city will not be holding a fireworks display this weekend. Budget constraints once again led the city to cancel them. Before last summer, the city had held a show for the previous 50 years.

The annual show costs $100,000 to $150,000, a Stamford Advocate article said. The show is scheduled to return in 2012 through private donations from local companies, Mayor Michael Pavia said in the article.
