Samuel Colacicco, 87, Stamford WWII Vet

STAMFORD, Conn. – Samuel Colacicco Sr., 87, died Thursday, Sept. 22. Born in Foggia, Italy, on Dec. 7, 1923, he spent most of his life in Stamford, but was living in Cape Coral, Fla., when he died.

Colacicco served in World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 9617 in Springdale. He owned Shippan Point Chevron and loved cars and working on them. He also loved playing bocce and hosting picnics for family and friends.

Colacicco is survived by his two sons, Al Colacicco and his wife, Denise, and Samuel Colacicco Jr. and his wife, Jennifer; a daughter, Gloria and her husband, Robert Lapolla; a brother, Anthony Colacicco; five sisters, Lorraine Marzzulo, Susan Zoppi, Ida Esposito, Antoinette Longo and Lucy Kamberi; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille Ferrara Colacicco, and a sister, Theresa Pedwano.

A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Stamford, with interment to follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery. Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan is in charge of arrangements.
