STAMFORD, Conn. – Mildred M. McAuliffe, a former resident of Stamford, died at her home in Staffordville Lake on Sunday, Oct. 23. She was 92 years old. Born May 12, 1919, in Kearny, N.J., she later moved to the Springdale neighborhood of Stamford, where she raised her family.

She worked at Machlett Laboratories until she retired in 1981, when she moved to Staffordville Lake. She was a member of Saint Edward Church, the Stafford Senior Center, and Stafford Grange No. 1. She also volunteered at Johnson Memorial Hospital.

McAuliffe is survived by two sons, Terrence McAuliffe and his wife, Arlene, and Timothy McAuliffe III and his wife, Maureen; a daughter, Ialeen Dunn and her husband, Mark; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Timothy McAuliffe II, and three older brothers, Walter Allen Cronkright, Steven Cronkright and Arthur Cronkright.

A Mass will be celebrated at Saint Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in McAuliffe’s memory to the Home and Community Health Services, Inc., Hospice Program, P.O. Box 1199, Enfield, CT 06083, or to the Connecticut Library of the Blind, 198 West St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
