Himes, Blumenthal Support Stamford Post Office

STAMFORD, Conn. — U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and U.S. Rep. Jim Himes dropped by the Glenbrook Post Office Friday to meet with Stamford residents and show their support for keeping the post office open.

“Closing the Glenbrook Post Office would seriously disadvantage a large portion of residents who do not have regular access to transportation or who work multiple jobs and are unable to get to a larger branch to pick up or drop off mail during normal business hours,” Blumenthal, a Democrat, said in a press release.

The post office is among 3,700 nationwide that could be closed by the United States Postal Service. The Glenbrook office is one of 15 statewide on the list.

“Glenbrook serves as an anchor for economic activity in Stamford, and local businesses and families have come to depend on the convenience of this particular branch. I will fight as hard as I did two years ago to keep this office open,” Himes, a Democrat who represents lower Fairfield County, said in the release.
