Car Catches Fire After Slamming Into Woods Along I-95 In Darien-Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — Traffic was a mess Tuesday evening on I-95 south at the Darien-Stamford border when a car caught fire after careening off the highway and into the woods, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The vehicle fire was closing the right lane of I-95 south between Exits 10 and 9, DOT said. 

Traffic was backed up into Norwalk as a result of the crash. 

DOT also reported heavy traffic on northbound I-95 in the area.
