Stamford Session Set on Averting Foreclosures

STAMFORD, Conn. — Representatives of banks and lending agencies will be at the Yerwood Center in Stamford on Saturday, July 30, to help homeowners who are in danger of foreclosure. The event is being sponsored by START Now!

"If we all work together and stop pointing the blame at the bank or CEO or this group of homeowners, we can all make real progress and can stabilize our housing crisis. It's about taking responsibility and working together as a community to get results,” Chris Meek, founder of START Now!, said in a press release.

Meek's organization was started in 2009 after a similar session helped 36 families modify their mortgages and avoid losing their homes, the release said. Meek has since held programs in Stamford, Danbury, Hartford and elsewhere, helping about 200 families.

Saturday’s event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information about START Now! visit its website or email info@startnowct.org.
