Estelle Baland, 86, Former Stamford Salesperson

STAMFORD, Conn. – Estelle P. Beland, a longtime resident of Stamford, died April 15. She was 86.

She was born Sept. 21, 1925 in Northbridge Mass., to the late Alderic and Ernestine Sauve. Beland worked as a telephone operator for many years before becoming a salesperson for Bloomingdale’s. In her earlier years, she volunteered as a troop leader for the Girl Scouts.  

Beland was active in parish activities at St. Mary's Church. She was also an accomplished seamstress and loved all kinds of music.  

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Emilien Beland; four daughters, Adele (Russell Null) Snowman, of Maryland, Michele Speer, of Norwalk, Donna Beland, of New Jersey and Joan (Bill) Stroh, of Connecticut; a son, Mark (Tina) Beland, of Arizona and three grandsons.  

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home in Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. John's Church in Darien. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
