Dancers Bring in the Green for Stamford Theater

STAMFORD, Conn. — Volunteer dancers raised $142,000 at the Fifth Annual Curtain Call’s Dancing with the Stars at the Palace Theater in Stamford during the weekend. The total raised was about $30,000 more than last year.

Stamford’s Lori Mercede was the big winner, sweeping up the Judges’ Choice Award Winner in the female division with professional partner Ted Thomas of the New England Academy of Dance, and the Best Friend Raiser Award as well, a news release said.

The Judges’ Choice Award Winner in the male division was Jeffery Seldon, anaging partner at Marcia Selden Catering & Event Planning, with professional dance partner Sarah Lee Michaels. The People’s Choice Award Winner was Steven Wise, owner of Steven Wise Associates, with professional dance partner Rosa Petriello of Arthur Murray of Greenwich, the release said.

The other volunteer ‘Stars’ included Wayne DeVingo, owner, Salon Wayne; Jeanne Hendrickson, Director of Finance, Perey Turnstiles, Inc.; Karen Kelly, Associate Publisher at Moffly Media;; Theresa Rogers Matthews, owner, Horseneck Wines; Jimmy Romaniello, president of James Daniel Entertainment; Mia Schipani, Vice President of Business Development RMS Companies; Nick Tamburro, Firefighter, City of Stamford; and Meri Wick, Director, Sales Learning and Development, Heineken USA;

“Each of them has contributed to our community through a variety of other events and organizations showing the spirit of volunteerism is alive and well in Fairfield County,” Lou Ursone, executive director of Curtain Call, said in the release.

The other professional dancers included Lou Lopez of Stamford's Latin Moves Dance Studio; Michael Powers and Lazaro Chavez of Arthur Murray of White Plains; Jude Coraldi and Peter Hahn from Fred Astaire Dance Studio Norwalk;  and Kelly Butler, Angessa Hughmanick and Mayko Noriega from Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom of Greenwich, a release from the event said.
