Baby Planner Gives New Peace of Mind to New Parent

Life as a new parent can be overwhelming, Berkeley Murray says, between the stress of pregnancy and the transition into parenthood. “Becoming a parent is the most natural transition we will ever experience, but at the same time the most nerve-wracking,” said Murray. “We often feel as though we should be able to handle this transition alone. Between the baby gear, registering, preparing the nursery and transition into the home, we forget to care of the most important part — ourselves and our new baby.”

After getting married and starting a family of her own, the former Stamford elementary teacher said she found it hard to manage a career, marriage and preparations for their little addition. Murray said there was a need for someone with the right background to help couples make the transition to parenthood. Once her children started school, she created Bliss Baby Planning for Fairfield County’s mommas to be.

Murray refers to her business as peace of mind for new parents. “We hire people to decorate our homes, trainers at the gym or financial planners,” she said. “Why would we not want someone to help us through the most life-changing time of our lives?”

As a baby planner, Murray assists in everything from customized baby registry and birthing to child proofing a home. “I often tell new moms to follow their instincts. And if something doesn’t feel right or they’re not happy with the way things are going, back off and reassess,” Murray said. “Asking for help is the smartest decision a new parent can make.”

Murray also hosts Baby Dream Gear Classes throughout Fairfield County in which parents can learn how and what kind of gear to pick for their child. The next class will be held at Gingerman on Greenwich Avenue on May 14 from noon to 4 p.m.
