FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — To celebrate the first day of spring, Fairfield County fans of Dairy Queen can enjoy a free ice cream cone and help a children's charity at the same time.

#FreeConeDay is today, March 20, the first day of spring. For the promotion, participating Dairy Queen outlets are offering one free small vanilla cone per person.

During this spring event, Dairy Queen is accepting donations on behalf of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Last year, Dairy Queen raised $200,000 nationwide. And in the past three decades, it has raised $120 million for the cause.

Here are the Dairy Queen locations in Fairfield County if you want to enjoy a free cone — and leave a donation:

  • Bridgeport: 949 Huntington Road
  • Fairfield: 1902 Post Road
  • Monroe: Village Square Shopping Center, 401 Monroe Turnpike
  • Stamford: 885 Summer St.
The promotion is offered at participating restaurants.
