Head Of Stamford Center For The Arts To Resign

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford Center for the Arts Executive Director Elissa O. Getto will resign from the organization Jan. 1, a news release said.

“I am so proud to have been a part of the successful rebirth of Stamford Center for the Arts, first as a consultant and then as executive director,” Getto said in the release. “I look forward to returning to the consulting world where I can hopefully help other nonprofits find their way back to financial solvency.”

She first joined the center in 2008 as a consultant before being named executive director in July 2009. She helped bring the center back from Chapter 11 bankruptcy and resume programming, the release said. Getto also reinstated education programs, re-energized membership and rebuilt the staff, among other endeavors, the release said.

“On behalf of myself and the board of directors, I want to express my appreciation for Elissa’s strong and wise leadership over the last four years through some very difficult times,” Stamford Center for the Arts Board Chairman Michael L. Widland said in the release.

Getto also has served as president and CEO of the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and as executive director and CEO of Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Fla., founder of the G2 Consulting Group, and general manager for Theatre Projects Consultants in Norwalk.
