Norwalk Police Officer Dies After Battling Cancer Norwalk Police are mourning the loss of Officer Cesar Ramirez, a 32-year veteran of the department, who died following a short battle with brain cancer.  Ramirez, 71, who died Tuesday, Jan. 21, had dedicated his career to his community was well known by the residents and business owners, a GoFundMe page said. "Officer Ramirez spent his years of service helping those in need and has positively impacted so many," said Sgt. Sofia Gulino, who started the fundraising effort. "He is a hero." The latest twister the National Weather Service has documented after completing surveying on Wednesday touched down in New Canaan at 5:29 p.m. and went through Norwalk until 5:41 p.m. It has been rated as an EF1 Twister, with the EF standing for Enhanced Fugita scale.
