Woman Charged For Assaulting Metro-North Train Conductor With Pumpkin
A 21-year-old woman is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a Metro-North conductor with a pumpkin after being asked for a ticket, the Westchester County District Attorney announced. Bronx resident Alexis Adams was riding the train shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11 when she was confronted by a conductor asking her to produce a ticket, or else leave at the next stop. Man Punches Female Conductor 30 Times In Fairfield County, MTA Says
A female Metro-North conductor was assaulted by a Fairfield County man after being told to move to a different car, MTA officials said. The conductor instructed Bridgeport resident Elijah Sampson that he was sitting in a car that was closed to the public at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, and he was prompted to move to an open car. Officials said that Sampson refused, and an engineer made contact with MTA police to meet at an upcoming station. The Metropolitan Transit Authority is taking drastic measures to help clean up the public transit system for essential workers during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. During his daily COVID-19 briefing, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and MTA officials announced that Metro-North, LIRR, and New York City subway trains and stations would be disinfected every 24 hours to curb the spread of the virus. MTA To Spend Unprecedented $5 Billion For Metro-North, Including Access To Penn Station
After years of rider complaints and problems with the entire infrastructure system, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced it plans to invest an unprecedented $51.5 billion into the region’s subways, buses, and railroads over the next five years. MTA To Investigate Reports Of $400M In Employees' Overtime Pay
The MTA has launched an extensive investigation regarding “massive” overtime payments that saw its workers earn more than $400 million in overtime last year. Elected officials in New York have reached an agreement on a new plan to “transform” travel in the state. New York Gov. Service has been partially restored on most Metro-North Railroad lines after downed trees on local tracks forced MTA officials to suspend operations on Wednesday night. Metro-North is operating on a reduced schedule on Thursday, with all lines open except for the New Canaan and Danbury branches, which remain suspended.
