If employees at one Fairfield County Starbucks have their way, pretty soon they will be serving up your latte as a unionized worker. Workers at the store at 67 Newtown Road in Danbury, announced on Friday, May 19, they have filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board to unionize with Starbucks Workers United, the national campaign to unionize the coffee giant. A Starbucks location in Branford has filed a petition to unionize after employees cited unpredictable hours and income changes. The coffee shop, located at 6 North Main St. (Route 1), has officially submitted a petition to unionize with Starbucks Workers United to the National Labor Relations Board, according to an announcement by Starbucks Workers United from Tuesday, Feb. 21. Workers at an Amazon warehouse in New York have made history in becoming the first in the company’s history to successfully form a union. In Staten Island, voters from the JFK8 fulfillment center easily voted to approve the measure, with the Amazon Labor Union winning 2,654 yes votes versus 2,131 no votes for the company.
