The incident took place in Westport around 12:45 a.m., Tuesday, March 26 at a residence near Compo Beach. According to Lt. New Canaan Resident ID'd As Man Found Dead At Metro-North Station In Springdale A man whose body was found under the Springdale train station platform in Stamford has been identified as a New Canaan resident. Stephen Sugrue, 65, was found under the platform late Saturday afternoon, Dec. 29, according to Metro-North officials. The cause of death is pending results the Medical Examiner's Office. MTA police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. Sugrue's death was the second death of a New Canaan resident near the tracks. John Hickey, 50, was killed on Dec. 13, 2018, by a train between the Darien and Noroton Heights stations.

John Hickey, 50, of New Canaan, was struck and killed Thursday night near Darien, said Metro-North officials. The incident took place around 7:35 p.m. Dec. 13 at Noroton Heights. The train had departed Grand Central at 6:49 p.m. headed for New Haven. Hickey was pronounced dead at the scene.  MTA Police are investigating.

MTA police investigators were dispatched to the New Canaan Metro-North station at approximately 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning following reports of an unattended bag. The subsequent police investigation led to delays of more than a half hour for commuters traveling from New Canaan to Stamford. The bag was ultimately deemed safe and trains were operating normally shortly after 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
