A Connecticut man is facing federal charges for allegedly swindling a Western Massachusetts estate out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in gold coins. William Dawson, age 51, was indicted on fraud charges by a federal grand jury in Worcester on Wednesday, Oct. 18. According to prosecutors, Dawson met with an employee of a home cleanout business in January 2023 after the company was hired by an estate in Shrewsbury. A man from Rhode Island has been sentenced to time in federal prison after being busted driving in Connecticut with more than 300 grams of fentanyl with his child in the backseat. Juan “Money” Hazard, 42, of Cranston, Rhode Island, was sentenced in Hartford federal court to 60 months in prison, followed by four years of supervised release, for trafficking fentanyl in Connecticut. Accused Dealer Busted With More Than 3 Pounds Of Pot During Fairfield Traffic Stop
A 28-year-old accused dealer was busted with 3 pounds of marijuana following an investigation by Fairfield Police. Samuel Burroughs, of Cranston, Rhode Island, was arrested Thursday, Jan. 3 around 4:45 p.m., on Garden Drive in Fairfield, said Fairfield Police Lt. Robert Kalamaras. Burroughs was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation by the department's Detective Bureau, said Kalamaras. Former Trumbull Man Nabbed For Violating Protective Order
A former Fairfield County resident was charged with several counts of violation of a protective order after he contacted family members via electronic communication. On Feb. 5, Raymond Genet, 49, of Cranston R.I., was issued a full no-contact order from the court prohibiting him from having contact of any kind, with his ex-wife and family, said Trumbull Police Capt. Keith Golding. Genet ignored the order and used various forms of electronic communications to contact his family throughout the summer from June through August, Golding said. A drug dealer who was busted with hundreds of grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop in Connecticut with his child in the backseat has admitted to trafficking drugs in the area.
