Connecticut State Police arrested two men this week after they tried to steal hundreds of gallons of used grease from restaurants, authorities said.
Carlos Alberto Salas, age 46, and Joan Mendez-Martinez, age 26, both of the Bronx, New York, are facing several charges stemming from the alleged lube job, State Police said.

Man Cashes Thousands In Checks Stolen From Mailboxes In Wilton, Police Say
A 35-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly stealing checks from Fairfield County mailboxes and changing the amount before cashing them.
New York City resident Boris Vivies, age 35, of the Bronx, was arrested on Tuesday, May 7, for the incident in Wilton in September 2022.
According to Lt. Anna Tornello of the Wilton Police, officers received complaints that checks had been stolen from mailboxes, altered, and then cashed for $4,000.
An extensive investigation found that Vivies was responsible for thefts, and an arrest warrant was issued.

A man allegedly coming from the Bronx to Fairfield County daily to peddle drugs was nabbed quickly after police received a tip.
Anthony Rivera, age 44, was charged on Friday, Jan. 12, after the Stamford Police drugs and organized crime unit received a tip that he was driving a red Mitsubishi to the area of West Broad Street to peddle various narcotics, said Assistant Chief Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police.

A New York man turned himself in to Darien Police after he was caught allegedly stealing a check from the Darien Post Office box, altering it, and then cashing it using his own name.
Amari Washington, age 20, of the Bronx, was arrested on Tuesday, April 25, said Sgt. Dan Skoumbros of the Darien Police.
The victim told police that someone stole his check from the USPS mailbox located at the Noroton Heights Post Office and then altered it to a higher amount and made it payable to Amari Washington, Skoumbros said.

Greenwich Homeowner Catches Burglar, Holds Him Down Until Police Arrived
A homeowner interrupted a burglary in progress and he and another man were able to hold down the suspect until police arrived in Fairfield County.
The incident took place in Greenwich around 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 25 on Holly Hill Lane.
According to Greenwich Police Lt. Patrick Smyth, police responded after receiving a call of two men holding down a third man and yelling for someone to call 911.
When police arrived, they found that the man being held down, Danny Collazo, age 48, of the Bronx, New York, had entered the home and removed items worth more than $2,300, Smyth said.
