Zachary Lance, 24, of Naugatuck, was arrested around 6 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, when Naugatuck Police responded to Rubber Avenue in the area of McDonald's after receiving reports of a man armed with a handgun and pointing it at passing vehicles and screaming, said the Naugatuck Police.

According to police, Lance's behavior was causing vehicles to swerve out of the way and in one instance he allegedly pointed the pistol directly at a vehicle.

Officers arrived on scene and quickly found Lance, and due to "the officers’ quick and decisive action he was disarmed and taken into custody," police said.

The pistol was found to be a look-alike/replica BB handgun, police added.

"We commend Officer Connor Faticoni and Sergeant Nick Kehoss for bringing this incident to a peaceful resolution," the department said.

Lance was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon and breach of peace and held on a $25,000 bond pending his appearance at Waterbury Court on Jan. 15.
