The incident unfolded around 5:30 a.m. Jan. 3, when the victim came to the Shelton Police Department to report that he had been assaulted during the overnight hours, said Shelton Police Det. Chris Nugent.
The victim told police that he was sleeping at his friend’s house in Shelton, when her ex-boyfriend, Daniel King, 34, of Shelton, came into the house and barged into the bedroom while they were sleeping.
He said King grabbed him out of bed and punched him in the face before striking him in the head with a firearm, Nugent said.
The victim was brought to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
After being released from the hospital the victim came to the Police Department to report the incident.
Shelton Police quickly located King and took him into custody. He was charged with home invasion, burglary, assault, and risk of injury to a minor due to the fact that two juveniles were asleep in the home when the attack occurred, police said.
He is being held on $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
