The man, described as being in his 50s and a Torrington resident, was found around 8 p.m., Sunday, June 27 when Torrington Police received a 911 call regarding a crash on Winsted Road.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a motorcycle on its side in the center of the road.
The driver was found dead just south of the motorcycle's location on the side of the road, Torrington Police said.
Another motorist that was behind the motorcycle came upon the crash and called 911.
The motorcycle was traveling south on Winsted Road at the time of the crash.
The Torrington Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team was activated and is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
At this time, there is no report of any other vehicles involved and no eyewitnesses to the crash.
The man's identity is expected to be released on Monday, June 28 following family notification.
Following the crash, the roadway was closed for a few hours but has since reopened.
