Ridgefield Film Society Shows 'Yonkers Joe'

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Yonkers and autism are coming to the Ridgefield Playhouse in the form of the film “Yonkers Joe” on Oct. 10.

The film is about Joe, played by Chazz Palminteri, a card shark in Yonkers with a penchant for slipping loaded dice into craps games. When his 20-year-old son with Down syndrome is expelled from the institution where he’s spent the last 12 years, Joe is forced to take him in.

The film follows Joe and his son as they try to make their relationship work while Joe also tries to scam an Atlantic City casino.

After the screening, journalists Ira Joe Fisher and Morton Dean will host a question and answer session with Director Robert Celestino and Academy Award nominee Palminteri.
