The Winter Weather Advisory was extended in Fairfield County and southern Connecticut until 9 p.m., Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.
"Use caution and take it slow on CT highways & roads," the Connecticut State Police said via Twitter. "State Police have responded to 96 motor vehicle accidents so far today, 7 with injury."
Accumulations of 3 to 5 inches were possible, with snow falling into the evening and temperatures falling into the lower 20s. Visibility was reduced to a half-mile or less.
The snow was creating slippery conditions on roads and making for hazardous travel conditions, the National Weather Service warned.
