Wetter Weather Cools Off Fairfield County

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Rain showers and temperatures in the 70s should wash away all the stickiness from the "heat dome" that smothered Fairfield County last week.

The forecast for Monday calls for showers increasing after lunch and a high of 76, the National Weather Service says. It should get even cooler tonight, when thunderstorms may continue and the low will dip to 68.

Spectacular summer weather should settle in during the rest of week, with sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80s. There is another chance of rain at the end of the week.
