Weather Service Makes Hurricane Watch Official

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn.—The National Weather Service issued its first hurricane-related warnings for Fairfield County Friday afternoon. Both a Hurricane Watch and a Flood Watch will go into effect Saturday night and Last until Sunday night.

Forecasts predict Hurricane Irene’s earliest effects will his Fairfield County Saturday night. By Sunday, wind gusts up to 90 miles per hour will combine with up to eight inches of rainfall over the course of the storm. Winds and rainfall will begin to die down Sunday night.
