Temps Sink to Single Digits; Sleet Ahead?

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The deep freeze is expected to continue as temperatures are expected to hit single digits Sunday night, according to the experts at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

A low temperature of about 9 degrees is predicted with north winds of 8 to 11 mph in lower Fairfield County. Monday, which is the federal holiday to honor Martin Luther King Jr., should open to sunny skies with a daytime high temperature near freezing, according to the forecast.

But Monday night brings a chance of rain, snow and sleet before 3 a.m., changing to rain and snow likely after 4 a.m. Little or no snow is expected to accumulate. On Tuesday, rain is likely with a high near 45 degrees.
