Storm Piles on the Snow

The third snowstorm in three weeks started at about 8 Tuesday night and by Wednesday morning, had blanketed Fairfield County under a heavy cover of snow. It wasn't being called a blizzard, but with totals of 22 inches in Ridgefield, 17 in Westport, and 15 in WIlton, according to the National Weather Service, and drifts running higher, it seems to qualify. On I-95 North between Exit 18 in Westport and Exit 19 in Fairfield, a stalled truck has backed up traffic for five miles. Metro-North trains are also suspended from Stamford to New Haven. The snow is not expected to end countywide until mid-afternoon (though it has in Westport) when the real digging out can begin.

Weather and road conditions will be updated throughout the day!
