Snow was falling in the Danbury area by mid-Wednesday morning and starting to accumulate on the ground, sidewalks and even roadways. Plow trucks were spotted out in Danbury, spreading ice melt on the roadways.
A total of 4 to 8 inches of snow is possible in Northern Fairifeld County, where a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 a.m. Thursday.
The snowfall will be heavy at times and could make driving dangerous on Wednesday, usually the biggest travel day of the year.
Coastal Connecticut remains under a Winter Weather Advisory until 1 a.m. Thursday. The storm was dropping rain in towns along the shoreline on Wednesday morning. A mix of snow and rain was forecast for the day, turning to all snow after 5 p.m.
Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible, with another inch possible overnight in southern Fairfield County.
All the snow will begin to taper off overnight with a chance of rain or snow showers on Thanksgiving and a high near 35 degrees.
Sunny skies will return on Friday with temperatures in the 30s.
