FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. With a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter-size hail and destructive winds of more than 70 mph, the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fairfield County until 11 p.m. Thursday.
Some weak rotation is seen within the storm, the weather service said. A tornado is unlikely but could develop, it said.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring in the storm, the weather service said. It advised people to move indoors immediately. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be hit by lightning.
