Omar Figueroa left a trail of drugs near two Norwalk schools as he ran from officers in an attempt to avoid arrest that ended when he tripped over a pile of snow, police said. After retracing his steps, officers found suspected heroin by a Soundview Avenue driveway and suspected marijuana in the hill where he fell Thursday afternoon, police said.
The chase began when an officer assigned to Brien McMahon High School recognized Figueroa, 26, of Waterbury, as a wanted person as he walked near the school. But Figueroa told the officer there couldn't be a warrant for him because he had just been to court.
But there was. Officers grabbed the sleeve of Figueroa's puffy winter coat, but he spun and ran, leaving the coat behind and ignoring the cry of "Baby, don't run!" from the woman with him.
Officers found him lying face down on the ground after he tripped. They say they smelled marijuana, and when they rolled him over, they found two bundles of glassine envelopes. Retracing his steps, police found the suspected drugs, which tested positive in a field test.
Figueroa was charged with two counts of illegal possession near a school, illegal manufacture, distribution, sale, prescription, dispensing, possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, criminal trespass, interfering with an officer, and two counts of sale possession within distance of a school, in this case, Brien McMahon High School and Brookside Elementary.

Adrian Carter said he wouldn't mind if the police officer questioning him looked in his jacket in November all he had in there was a pair of women's underwear. But there was a rock-like substance in his pocket, which the officer suspected was narcotics.
It tested positive for amphetamines, and police applied for an arrest warrant. Carter, 20, was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of a controlled substance and illegal possession near a school. Bond was set at $10,000.
The officer had questioned Carter because he was considered a trespasser because he was hanging out at 1 a.m. near a closed South Main Street bar.
