Heavy Rain May Hit Fairfield County Tuesday

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Temperatures too warm for a repeat of last winter's post-Christmas blizzard might mean heavy rain for Fairfield County on Tuesday night.

High winds could also hit the coast, including gusts of up to 40 mph "for a few hours Tuesday evening," the National Weather Service says. There is a "low probability" of even stronger winds, the Weather Service says.

Winds could knock down tree limbs, causing "isolated power outages," the weather service warns.

The rain should begin around rush hour Tuesday evening. More than an inch of rain may fall by the time the storm moves out early Wednesday, the weather service says.

The warm weather has robbed the region of its typical snowfall. This article on weather.com gives some figures on the lack of snow.
