Chief Robert Kalamaras reported that the Fairfield Police and Animal Control rescued over 80 animals from a home on Churchill Street shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, by members of the Fairfield Fire Department, who were assisting the resident of the home following a medical emergency. Police in Westport, said they began receiving calls on Wednesday, June 23, of multiple sightings of the bear in the northern part of town, said Westport PD Lt. David Wolf. Black Bear Sighting Reported In Westport A Westport resident got a little fright when they encountered a black bear on their property. The sighting took place around 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, on North Avenue, said the Westport Police. Officers tracked the bear to the area of 300 North Avenue and Tuck Lane.  The bear was not acting in an aggressive manner and was observed to be acting normally, police said. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Wildlife Division (DEEP) was notified, they added. Members of the Westport Police Department are hopeful of reuniting an elderly chocolate Labrador that was recently found near a High Point Road home. She is currently being held at Westport Animal Control. Police said that the “shelter staff firmly believes she is someone's dog and would like to do all that we can to reunite her with her family in the twilight years of her life.” Anyone who recognizes the dog, or knows its owners has been asked to contact Westport Animal Control by calling (203) 341-5076.

Six Ducklings Rescued After Being Stuck In Storm Drain Near Compo Point Westport firefighters were busy Saturday saving six ducklings from a storm drain. The department received a call about the ducklings and headed to Compo Road South to rescue the little guys. Westport Animal Control also responded to the scene. Working together, the two agencies managed to rescue all six ducklings.  A mother was not spotted in the area.

Lost And Found: Motorist Picks Up Dog In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. — The Westport Police Department is trying to help a lost pup find her way home.  This female dog (pictured above) was picked up by passing motorists in the area of Birchwood Country Club on Kings Highway South in Westport.  She is a small hound or beagle mix — probably about 8 to 12 months old.  She was wearing a black collar with pink edging when picked up.  Do you know this dog or her owner?
