Police Alert Residents After String Of Vehicle Thefts In Fairfield County Police in Fairfield County issued an alert following a string of vehicle thefts. The New Canaan Police Department said the thefts and suspicious incidents took place between Friday, Oct. 28, and Sunday, Oct. 30. Officers first responded to a report of a vehicle stolen from a driveway in the area of Weed Street and Richmond Hill Road in New Canaan at about 1:20 a.m. on Friday, according to the report. The incident took place in New Canaan around 9:20 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 22 in the area of Frogtown Road and Weed Street. According to Lt. Man Accused Of Having DUI Three Times Legal Limit Following Fairfield County Crash A local man has been arrested for DUI with a blood alcohol limit at more than three times the legal limit following a crash in Fairfield County. Michael Zerdy was arrested on Friday, Feb. 19, for the incident which took place in November in New Canaan, said Lieutenant Jason Ferraro of the New Canaan Police.  According to Ferraro, Zerdy, age 40, of New Canaan, was driving in the area of Weed Street and Old Samford, when he crashed into a utility pole. Confirmed Tornado Touched Down In Norwalk A third tornado has been confirmed in the Lower Hudson Valley/Fairfield County area during Tuesday's severe storm. The latest twister the National Weather Service has documented after completing surveying on Wednesday touched down in New Canaan at 5:29 p.m. and went through Norwalk until 5:41 p.m. It has been rated as an EF1 Twister, with the EF standing for Enhanced Fugita scale. Power Outages Now Hitting 27 Percent Of New Canaan As more than 27 percent of New Canaan residents continue to deal with power outages, officials are warning that downed power lines continue to be a problem as trees tumble. A classic example of the danger could be seen Wednesday during the height of the storm when several power lines caught fire on Weed Street, putting on a show for residents until firefighters could arrive to douse the flames.
